Best of the last ICE cars?

We got back 600$ from Quebec for the charger setup. It cost me more than that but luckily my wife cousin is a licensed electrician and took care of the install. 6/3 wire with a 50amp GCFi breaker. I have a 200amp panel with lots of space and it’s in the garage so the install was very easy. Only thing we couldn’t do right away was a Hubbell outlet as it’s back ordered, had to use normal 14-50 outlet bought at the last min. Truthfully I should have went with a hardwired solution

Hi guys,
Probably winter blues, but curious to get your thoughts on what may be the best of the last ICE cars. Nat does not drive manual, hence thinking of options...
Not sports cars, just all around great 'performance' cars. Something that you might buy and keep for a long time, including driving in winter etc.
Still love my 2018 GTI, but being realistic, the next few years may be last chance for something
- simple ICE, not hybrid
- smaller sedan/coupe/hatch, ideally not an SUV
- well made, solid, repairable
- decent fuel economy
- not 'boring'
- I guess with a DSG
- Euro, Japanese?
I don't shop cars very often, but just thinking ahead on the next 5-10 years before the next car is a an appliance or an iphone.
Could be an interesting discussion.
