Why didn’t I think of that!

Use it and easy peasy
My understanding is that the tolls are unpublished and vary, depending upon the length of usage and the time of day.
I’ve heard the same about the 407 north of Toronto (but it’s been a few years since I’ve been to Mosport). I never did receive a toll invoice, but maybe being a resident of a different country is an advantage.

Side note, what's decent for a SIM roaming card for the US these days.... I had one pre covid, but it went bust at the beginning of the pandemic.

About $13 for the entire 30 mile use. However, I have a Toll Transponder usable in most states (NY, Pa, SC and Fl).
However, their system (SC) database is NOT linked to Ontario and you may not get billed because they're unable to ID the plate.
My son has not been billed yet for SC or Fl and he goes to the house 3 times a year. He does receive a bill for the NY and Pa tolls

Thanks for the info.

I have a PA plate. Also have the multi state transponder (but never used it in Canada).

My understanding is the toll cost around Charlotte can go up dramatically when using the area HOV during certain popular/busy times of day (am & pm rush hour). $13 is well worth it but I’ve read it can be $100+. Even that could be worth it but I’d rather make an informed choice than take the road and have no idea of the toll until it charges my card (or arrives in mail).

We try to time our southern route to avoid Charlotte at either rush hour (although we’ve hit significant backups at non rush hour due to accidents or sheer volume. I wish there was a good detour.

Waze has been useful.

I use an E-Z pass on my cars. Basically free as you get it in a gas station for $25, but it includes $25 worth of tolls and works in all Eastern states. It is very handy.

Here is an excerpt from the toll rates. The tolls are also not an unknown with a surprise if charged at a later date.
Unlike the 407, for the I77 approaching Charleston, every time you get on to a section the rates are posted with large LEDs, so if you don't want to pay the $0.75 for that section move over to the right in the non toll lanes

I max out at 12 hours a day. I drive, no one else. Regardless of how many drivers in the car no one is going to be 100% at 3am in the morning. Not worth the risk.

Also, interstates in the US are a roadkill gong show. Drive early in the morning and you see the fresh roadkill hit the past night as they tried to cross. Most interstate driving is done in the boonies with a wooded divider between directions. Too much opportunity for animals to jump out in front of you. We aren't talking bunnies, most I see are decent sized deer. A deer through the windshield would make you wish you got a hotel at night or flew.

I picked up a sim card at A T &T in West Virginia. 15gb unlimited talk/text for 30 days was $40 USDplus $15 activation fee.
It still worked up here until I re-installed my regular sim card

It also works in Florida and the Charlotte HOV lane, which btw saves a ton of time
Best investment ever

No thanks. My wife and I did the drive back from Orlando in one shot using 4 hour driving shifts Left Orlando 8am Friday AM and got back to Montreal around 11am.

Through VA and some of PA it was intense fog and rain. We were so exhausted from driving through it that we stopped just over the NY/PA rest stop and slept for an hour.

Driving down was fine, left Montreal at midday and got as far as Harrisonburg Va. Got to Orlando the next day.

I’ll never do it again in one shot. Get a hotel for the night.

Roadtrips can be fun with the right people. I would be sure to give a days cushion before the cruise, don't want to be late because of a flat tire or traffic and make the drive stressful.
I find wife likes to stop a lot for rest stops...not ideal for long road trip.

Drive to Buffalo and grab a cheap *** flight to save $$ vs our **** show of an aviation industry up here that gouges you $ wise then ram rods you experience wise because they can. Driven down 4 times total - never again.
