Is there more $ in the storage gig than meets the eye? Let's say 50 cars at $200 a month is hardly going to cut it these days - not bad for a farmer with some extra property, but if someone is renting a building, paying for insurance etc. I must be missing something (which is highly likely).

Maybe business is slow and there is a long term lease so running a storage service helps to cover the reduced expenses?

I certainly not would not store a car with a business that appears to be going out of business. That 50 x $200 could be someone’s disappearing cash. Never underestimate, even the most unlikely people can turn desperate given the right situation.

Ilker is a good guy - works hard and I enjoyed doing business with him. Sorry to see him go..and ironically had just given a friend of mine Ilker’s v card last week for work he was thinking of doing on his 911 in the spring.

New opportunities coming for him I am sure.

if that was the case why not sell the business and the good will ?

i imagine its more about having good foresight, looking at margin and net profit ( or loss) and seeing the recession barreling down on us .

when I read this I thought...great for Ilker maybe he got some sponsorship for racing or some other opportunity and it made sense to conver to provide storage. Maybe he did sell and other company took over.
Either way I wish the best for him ...as well as almost of you guys here on Rennlist. heck maybe he won the lottery or got inheritance from rich Uncle?
I have to hand it to him; he was racing cup cars for a number of years and maybe still...that would be fun!
