Sadly the battery on my 997 is on its last leg.
Time to replace.
Anyone pick one up lately? Still has the one my mechanic put in about 6 years ago so this will be the first in I install myself.
Assume any Canadian Tire in the right size will do.
the 997.1 battery is an 94R or H7. I have used Wal-mart (made by Johnson Controls) or Costco battery (also Johnson Controls). Costco will have a better price than Wal-mart and Canadian Tire and better warranty.
While any of the batteries from the retailers will work, you will want to find a battery which size is as close as the factory size as possible so you may need to do some research. I bought a Canadian Tire battery to replace the one in our daily driver (non-Porsche) and while it worked, the fit wasn't the best.
If you are looking for a cost effective solution, Costco's prices are hard to beat. There was quite a savings in comparison to the Canadian Tire battery I bought, and hindsight is 20/20. Do shop around.

I just replaced my 996 one with a Costco this summer. Interestingly I thought I’d save the old one for misc use around the shop....only to have it explode this week while on maintainer. Sure glad it didn’t happen in the car.
I installed an AGM from Canadian Tire 6 years ago, still cranks over like new when the car has bee sitting for weeks at a time. Fit is the same as factory so no issues with install.

O/P- are you storing your car for the winter? I'd buy it in the spring.
I have a H7 on my work bench from a friends 996. Its on a trickle and I'll get it tested.
You're welcome to it if it takes a charge.
I also have some Tesla X snow tires to go get out of his garage.
He'll want something for those. 365/35/22 285/35/22 crazy big
