Default QuickJack question

Hey all,

I am considering getting a QuickJack from Pelican Parts in order to work on my vehicles. I have a BGTS 4.0 and a Mazda CX-5 (as the family vehicle). My question to all you knowledgeable people is: Can I get the 7000 lb jack and use it for both vehicles?

Thanks!

Should be okay, yes.

I believe Costco Canada sells the Quick Jack. Have you considered them as an option?

whats the weight capacity of the quickjack? I think you should be fine.... I use a maxjax rated at 6000lbs, and it lifts my wife's q7 tdi (5500lbs) with no issues... and I've only got 1 15amp 110v circuit for the entire garage at the moment.

I was looking at the 6000 and 7000 lb ones. It's good to know it'll lift a Q7

Yes, yes you can. Make sure you do/don't need the XL, some vehicles the pick points are very far apart.

I just checked and it shows $1599 CAD for the unit you are looking for.

I believe they are actually a couple hundred cheaper in store as well if you have a truck and don't mind the pain in the butt that is costco shopping haha.. I remember seeing them on clearance a couple years ago for about 1k and in still kicking myself for not buying one as I have a 4 post but this would work well for engine out service on the 911 (engine won't clear my 4 post lift..

Measure twice, cut (order) once. Better safe than sorry. Measuring guide

Are you planning on using it with ramps parallel or perpendicular? If parallel, each ramp has to fit between the wheels, and I found that even the shorter 5,000 model was a very tight fit for my 964. I would measure the space from front wheel to back wheel and compare that to the length of the 7,000 ramp. You should have several inches of clearance or you could have a situation where as the ramps swing through their arc, they hit your tires.

I found mine on sale at Costco 3 years ago for $999. The shipping was also free, so much better price than I could find anywhere else at the time. Lots of complaints regarding having them shipped though, as these things are HEAVY, and they come in thin, flimsy cardboard boxes that self destruct just transporting them, and many reported stuff missing that fell out of the boxes during transport.

I rolled the dice anyway, and did OK. The boxes on the ramps themselves were all torn up, but the box with the pump, hoses and fittings was still intact. Best 1K I ever spent, and it paid for itself within a year. My next addition will be for the SUV extension post which will let me get the car higher if needed, albeit with an extra step in the middle with jackstands, as of course there isnt enough clearance under the car to start with them installed.

I would go with the Quickjack BL-5000SLX from Canadian Tire.
The price seems to have gone up as it was $1499 when I got mine and they do go on sale from time to time.

I got mine 2 years ago and have used it many many times.
I have seen the 7000 that Costco sells and I can honestly say its huge and heavy.
The rails are 75 pounds each (vs 100 pounds on the 7000) making it a little more difficult to pickup and put in place.
If you have a large SUV or Pickup then it might be your best bet.
But for regular sized cars and SUV's the 5000 is more than enough.

Here's a video of my car going up:
