Default Spark Plug Service

Hi everyone,

I just recently purchased a 2018 718 GTS and the OEM recommended a 4-year service. The vehicle has 10,000KMs on it, is it necessary to do the Spark Plugs and Brake Flush at this time? or can I just do the oil change and do the rest according to mileage.

Thanks!

You should follow the maintenance schedule, most european manufacturers (Porsche included) go on a time-based maintenance schedule. That being said, you can always bring it to an independent shop and let them do the maintenance or pay a pretty penny at dealerships for the service.

If it was my car? I'd skip the plugs unless its throwing codes for misfires....If that model uses plug tubes like the early water cooled engines they'll leak eventually and you can replace the plugs then...

Brake fluid flushes are more important to help possibly prevent corrosion in the caliper....

but i'm not a mechanic,....

change out the brake fluid as it absorbs moisture and becomes less effective as brake fluid.
plugs wear based on use not time, so I would pass on those.
oil, when was it last changed? I would change if it has been 5000kms or 2 years.
Congrats on the new car. How about a picture? what do you plan to use the car for?

Your plugs are most likely fine, but the recommended time interval is also to prevent them from seizing up in the heads; particularly if you drive it during corrosion season (late fall, winter, early spring). You could remove them and reseat them, but plugs are relatively cheap, so I'd just change them if I went through all that trouble.

Brake flush, every 2 years no matter how little you drive it.

Oil change: I change mine every year even though I only drive it about 3-4k a year...oil is cheap.

Thanks, everyone!

Does Porsche honour the warranty if service is done at an Indy shop?
