Rich at Luxury Autobody
So I'm biting the bullet this year and my 993 is going to get a cosmetic restoration to bring her back in her former glory of 21 years ago when I rescued her from Miami. I'm starting with body and paint , then will move to restore the interior. I will keep the as raced specs on the car for possible track outings, but I just want her to look as good as it feels driving her.
So based on the recommendations on this forum, I called Rich at Luxury Autobody today to get the ball rolling and get timelines and work scope. I told him about you guys recommending him and he wanted me to convey his heartfelt thanks for the endorsement to all of you!. He sounds like a really down to earth great guy, so I'm also grateful to you guys for recommending him. I also told him that his web links are hacked and he was thankful...
So im debating to either respray the original midnight blue, or do a color change to Maritime Blue. The car looks like an RSCS with OEM rims and aero kit, so the colour would be appropriate.
What do you guys think?

110% keep the original colour...no matter how good a paint shop is, unless they tear down the entire car to bare metal, they will never get every last bit of the original paint covered.

2nd retaining the original colour. Can always do a wrap down the road which will give you a bit of extra protection if it's seeing track use. Cost of the wrap is easily justified by the additional value of retaining the stock colour should you decide to sell down the line. Colour change cars always get alot of questions and are priced accordingly

I did a colour change on my old SC. The previous owner did a colour change as well. I was making it colour #3. The body shop that did the work for me stripped/ sanded the body to bare metal. All glass was removed.
I wouldn't do it again, re-painting the frunk and engine compartment to match was labor intensive. That part of the job I did myself.

I hear a lot of people about "patina". I respect that. Its just not for me.
Thanks everyone for your comments.. I agree if i cant do a proper color change I will most likely do a great Midnight Blue respray.
