Dad wants to wrap 2008 BMW, but doesn't know his 992 is coming soon
My dad just asked me if he should wrap his dark grey 2008 BMW 328i convertible with "sunflower yellow".
However, he doesn't know that I will be surprising him with a "racing yellow" 992 in a few months when it arrives.
I'm afraid they'll clash in his driveway due to the different yellows. What should I do?
The other consideration is the fact that he wants me to get this for him as his Christmas present lol.
So it feels weird coughing up $3k for something that will be replaced soon.
Jeez, I got my parents and sisters Honda Accords for Christmas. Baller.
I'm getting my dad a bottle of Irish Whiskey - just like last Christmas and the dozen prior to that. That being said I will carve out the time to enjoy some it with him. Hopefully he never reads this thread or I'll be out of the will :-)
Better yet. Tell him that you will get that for him for Christmas and they are a bit back logged with appointmentw then take his BMW when the car comes and surprise him with the 992.
Is the car being sold / traded in when the new 911 arrives? If so, wraps hammer value, especially on older "enthusiast" cars as they are often used to cover up paint damaged, mismatched panels, poor repairs etc. Even if you "documented" the condition prior, a prospective buyer is going to lowball you or assume the paint is junk.

That's actually a great idea, except he already found the shop and they even did a consultation with his car unfortunately.

I don't know what he will do with the BMW after I get him the 992. But I think he probably cares more about having a colour he enjoys rather than the re-sale value. I think that's a really good point though.
I have a Mineral Grey F80 M3. I think that is the same colour as you dad's car. After three years with MG, I got bored with it and wrapped in 3M Fiery Orange. I thought about yellow but it the end I thought it was a bit to bright. The orange is colourful and suits the car perfectly. Something you could suggest to him. If you are worried about resale, the wrap will come off in a few hours of work
If the car is coming in the spring. Suggest you pay for the wrap as his Christmas present BUT he has to wait until the spring.
I’M assuming you can’t be that cash strapped if you bought him a 992. Paying for his wrap @3k, could keep the surprise alive.
