Porsche Used Car Mkt on Fire !
I have spent 20 yrs in Capital Markets and you are witnessing "too much liquidity" aka cheap money finding itself in everything including expensive cars. I purchased my Cayman S 2011 model 6-spd last xmas and I can get more for it in the US mkt than what I paid including the dreaded Sales Tax in Canada (HST) and thats saying alot these days! However, selling for more doesn't imply that upgrading "if" thats a choice is sound given that 911 or even other Cayman / 718 variants are also on fire ...in the used marketplace. Hence, why at least I am exploring the mods ... albeit that has been answered on another post. The point here is - dealers are starved for used cars and it shows.
Any thoughts ....

Yeah, I've been on the look out for a 2014-2016 981 S or GTS Cayman 6 speed. They are hard to come by

all of the above is true....but it also was true last christmas, as the cheaper Canadian dollar and only 2.5% import tax made a lot of Canadian cars become US cars, and was easier to go see a car before purchasing.

Yes, people that have money are making more than in past years and able to spend less on experiences, so they're spending it on cars.
Not sure how much longer we're going to see these high prices for, although I guess with inflation, it could continue to keep prices steady. Also, the right car, a NA 6 speed car, like yours, should hold more steady long term.

The most recent one I was looking at sold within two days before I could get to it in person.
The S market isn't so savage and there are a few options out there, unless you're specific about the options you seek. PM me if you want to trade leads
Winter usually brings less choice in the ragtop market as sellers hold out for the stronger spring market.
Enhanced savings, fear of savings confiscation/obliteration (money-printing inflation, cap gains rate increase), interest rates in the gutter, covid limiting new Porsche production, favourable USD - these all have a part to play IMO.

The gentleman who mentioned its the entire car market is accurate.
I traded in an accidented ($8000 dealership cost repair) 2016 CX3 on a 2021 CX30 and took home a cheque for $2400 with no money down on the new one at 0.9%
they usually have 50-75 used cars on offer, at the time I gave them my trade they had 6.
I got about $100 less than if I had sold it privately and didn’t have to deal with the pond scum lowballing trolls that is the used car market today.
Porsche market is nuts. The dealer I use in Montreal have line ups for appointments.

The market is crazy. Between covid and the stop sale there is almost no inventory at my Porsche dealer.
I bought my 991.1 C4 GTS last year and I don’t think it’s depreciated at all this year. I might even be able to sell it for more than I paid. This is ignoring tax and fees, of course.

Potentially putting my 981 up for sale in the spring. Perhaps I'll do alright.
