+1 on Gregster's recommendation on Akebono. I really like their pads for street application. Probably not the greatest for the track, but they are great for a daily driver.

Have used Keltech a lot. If I cant tackle it myself (and it doesnt look too difficult to be honest) then he may get the work
My Textar supplier had an almost 100% warranty/ comeback rate with Textar. Same issue with friends in the UK who have shops. I actually just warrantied a set off a 986 last week I changed in 2018 for unbearable noise. I'll never use them again unless it's actually OEM

Also Akebono is the Porsche OEM now

I switched to slotted rotors (Sebro) on my Cayman several years ago and very happy with them. They perform better than drilled and last longer. For pads I use cheap Centro Posi-quiet semi-metallic. Much less dust than OEM, no noise at all and perform just fine for daily driving. I always order Porsche parts from USA

Textar OEM is a different compound vs jobber formulations. 991, Macan, Etc is all Akebono now. We do 2-3 brake jobs a week using OEM Porsche parts.

Im very bitter about Textar. They caused lots of headaches and were just full of excuses. The Rep is a total toolbox and I tossed his *** out of the shop.

My previous E36 M3 had jobber Textar pads, and they were terrible. I got rid of them in place of Akebonos, and it was a night and day difference. Did the same for my 996. I didn't get a chance to do the same to the 986 as it already had OE brake rotors and pads with plenty of life left. I would have gone the way of Akebono given the opportunity.

Interesting that Porsche has gone with a Japanese supplier for their brake pads. My follow up question to that is whether or not Akebono will be making brake pads for previous generation Porsches i.e. air cooled / 986/987/996/997 etc. Secretly I hope they do, but that's because I actually like their products. Any intelligence on that is appreciated!

I think Gregster would have a better answer than I would, but for me, I knew it was jobber Textar because of the receipts the previous owners left behind in the service folder, and the stores they were purchased from.

Textars come in a Yellow Box that will say "German Engineering " or something on them. German or Swiss adds 50$ of price to the product... There is a brand called "Bremsen" which means brakes in German... But sounds fancy.. all reboxed low end mid range stuff.

With Zimmerman, Sebro, Pilenga brake parts you actually get Tüv certificates.

I was also advised by germanparts.ca to go with Sebro rotors and avoid brembo rotors as some are made in asia

I ordered Serbo [drilled] front rotors from AutoHausAZ from the US and landed cost is about C$370.
I had Hawk Ceramic front pads ordered a year ago when they were on sales, paid C$198 from Tdot performance
Ordered sensors and dampers from Germanparts.ca

Plan to do my brake at the next oil change where I still have about 600km to go.

Like these? I’ve been using these in my 996 with zero issues, other than dusty.

+1 for Rockauto...

I got Raybesto rear rotors, Pagid Front rotors, Power Stop Evolution Clean Z16 Ceramic pads shipped to my door for $400 cdn. this was for my 2001 Boxster S in May 2019

No issues with them. I do not have the wear sensors hooked up, because I use the car on the track and swap out to Hawk pads for the track.
