Quite an ambitious project. Looks like there is a mixed business model and the track will be rentable for special events. I doubt if I will pony up $100k for a membership , though

I hope it skews closer to Mosport and Calabogie than TMP or Grand Bend. I'd love an option that's cheaper than Mosport and closer than Calabogie.

Given the general distaste people seem to have to automobiles these days it's nice to see a facility like this being built. Flat or not, a new track is a new track.

Best of luck to them, I hope they are successful.

However, I recall the 'locals' complaining about noise and traffic associated with some music festivals in the past. I can't see them being happy about noise from the track or some cars with sport exhaust going to/from the track.

I expect there will be some kind of dB monitoring.

Our cottage is about 5km away from the Grand Bend track. We hear the drag races clear as a bell from our back deck. But even though ours and everyone else's cottages were built long before the track, I don't recall ever hearing anyone complain about the noise once. Strange how in some places it bugs people, in others it doesn't.

I don't think it will last long. Tremblant got screwed over and it will set precedence and I would guess many other class action suits will follow in other tracks as people will want to cash in.

I also hope it is built but doubt it. look at the Lake Erie project, it had big money and car manufacturers behind it and it never happened. Orillia weather is not as good as Erie so location doesn't make sense. According to the organizers it does have some elevation changes. The layout looks cool and would be fun in the summer. Good luck to them.

It's being built across the road from an airport, that is being expanded to allow 737's to land on and on the other side of the highway from Burl's Creek where they have concerts, so further from the cottagers on the lake that whine even though their boats are unmuffled (I live on Lake Simcoe and the boats are louder than any race track I have been to, especially poker run weekends), so I hope less complaints from locals. I doubt they will have pro races, so traffic likely won't be an issue.

I'm personally looking forward to it. 1/2 hour to the track for me would be awesome.

Excellent!

Now we know someone local to the track where post track activities (party) can be held. :-)
