Tracing Ownership History
Is there a way to trace ownership history of a car back to 1970 in Ontario?

You can run a vin abstract through service Ontario that will turn up previous registrations, including names. I was able to trace my 72 back to the dealer that imported it from Germany back in the 80s.

They will strip out all identifying info about previous owners such as address under the privacy act. All you will get is dates of transfers, city, sticker/plate date renewals and the like.

You get names too, but not addresses. I just pulled one on one of my old Harleys.
