Garage Floor Fix Recomendations Prior to Installing Tiles
Contemplating tiling the garage floor this fall with SwissTrax tiles, however in advance of doing so I would welcome the advice of any RL'ers on the following: When I bought the house new 12 years ago the floor had a low spot which I addressed with the builder. The 'fix' was that they poured a thin layer on top to level it which as you can see from the images turned out to be a train wreck. I would like to address this before just throwing the tiles over top as I plan on staying in the house for at least another 6-8 years. Any thoughts/recommendations on a fix?
I painted the floor before laying down Racedeck. Swisstrax wasn't an option then.
Don't be boring with one color though. Be creative and have some fun. Make it yours!
Wow - that looks outstanding. Like many projects I find the planning aspect as enjoyable as the finished product!! Out of curiosity was the coat of paint to keep down on dust or other? Do you use the garage for any winter drivers? 1/2 of my garage is used during the winter in/out which typically has quite a collection of grit built up come spring and was just wondering how you handle such (pressure wash etc.). That being said if this winter is anything like this summer with all of this Covid business the cars won't be leaving the garage. Cheers.

Originally, I used to paint the floor every few years to keep it fresh. I just put one last coat on to cover any base spots. The car is covered over the winter up on the lift and yes the garage is used all winter. I keep it at 10 degrees C. over the winter. Wash & wax the 4Runner inside over the winter. The gas furnace get it up to 21C in about 30 minutes.
No issues over 7 years. I wash the floor a few times over the year. Nothing special to clean. The tiles are made of the same plastic as gas cans. Couple times a year I wash it. Pour Mr. Clean and use the push broom for a light scrub and then just regular garden hose pressure to rinse. Easy as heck. I put swisstrax a few years ago. Cracks in concrete doesn't matter, but you want the floor to be level. The second picture of your floor i would definitely fill. As others have said, the tiled garage is awesome!
If you dont mind me asking, where is the best and least expensive place to source swisstrax in the GTA? Who has the best deal?
I had a garage built two years ago and chose Swisstrax Ribtrax. The only two places that sold them were Swisstrax in BC and Obsessed Garage. With the exchange, direct from Swisstrax was the better deal. If you aren't in a rush, keep an eye on their website as they sometimes have sales.
I chose black and red to match the car. Of course I have now sold the car.

This is the quintessential Man Cave Will. Must invest in a tile covering as well the LED strip lighting. The only thing you’re missing here is the classic Beetle.
