I have an eyezon.com module on my DSC alarm panel which lets you control the alarm system and receive text/email message notifications. You can also pay for active monitoring.
I have irrigation sprinklers so I didn't go down the water shut-off. What a great idea the shutoffs are. I had a valve go bad at the cottage on the sprinklers there and it ran for at least 3 days....

My house water shut off has been installed after the sprinklers, and humidifier.
Pretty much what everyone else said.
Monitoring is pointless theses days because if the alarm is tripped, they'll send the flunkie to verify the home was broken into and then they'll call the cops.
Home security is akin to your car alarm. It deters some but not most.
Do the wi-fi cams all over including inside if so incline but motion lights outside don't hurt either.
