I am sure you'll be able to get a refund if you can't (or don't want to) make the new dates.
I do hope they can salvage a North American run later in the season, along with Austin and Mexico.

Unless the planet is vaccinated, there will be no racing. They are just postponing it to buy time. Typical stalling tactic. By the time this new date comes, they might not even be in business anymore.

Haas and Renault will be first to go. Gene is floating it out of pocket and Renault is at the mercy of the French Gov.. running a 8-10 race season will be hard if the travel restrictions aren't lifted.. which in places like Italia or France seen unlikely. Worst case at Williams Latifi makes a big cash investment

This is an extinction-level event for most event promoters as very few have enough cash on hand to weather a full season (or longer) of shutdowns. There are enormous event costs already spent well in advance of an event season by teams, organizers, sponsors and everyone. You have to have very deep pockets to survive this, and many teams/events were struggling to make it work during the best of times. IMO - Automobile racing will be re-worked top-to-bottom after Covid-19. I am a small (ish) event promoter who has event seasons ranging from $300k to $5 million depending on what I have in the pipe. Thankfully I can turn the expense tap off so I will survive (heavily injured, but alive). Still, if this happened five years ago at revenue/expense peak, I would have had no choice but to declare bankruptcy corporately with my larger business. Some of my friends in business have been chatting with me about Chapter 11 bankruptcy for their companies as their only option. Some will survive, but many won't... Very challenging and sad times, but we need to stay positive.

Isn't Montreal's entry fee $60 million? They may not even want to pony up with all else that's going on and I'm betting many sponsors let alone teams will drop out if not go bankrupt after all this.

It's was around 15-17 million per year with Bernie. One of the cheapest on the calendar if you count Monaco not having to pay a fee. The current deal goes to 2029 and is worth about 100 million with the feds, provincial gov and city kicking in lots of that amount. The city and province paid for the renovations.

i think in the big picture spectator revenue is a very small piece and they dont care if no one goes, big money is from the hosting cities and television rights around the world im sure.
As suggested im sure many it not all cities will push this off the calender's given the current health/ financial crisis. Lets face it , if counties hosted it the governments likely would not survive the political fallout.

I think 2020 is toast. I have been to many F1 races and they are amazing events but I fear that F1 as we know it is done.
The auto industry is is very bad shape and facing huge capex to prep for electric car production and increasing environmental regulation. Young people are less interested in cars and driving much later.
It seems to me that F1 is an increasingly bad promotional emblem for the future. My guess is that Mercedes will take the opportunity to bow out after 2021 if it happens.
