Any SNELL Cert helmet that is date current and fits correctly is good as a starter.

The price only goes up due to weight reductions which cost a lot more and more expensive material use.

Have fun and be safe.

If you're going to Mosport Braiden Tire has a shop on site. He does helmet rentals.
I have a Racequip open faced helmet. I purchased it at Performance Improvements

I use my motorcycle helmet on trackdays. I suspect alot of people do.

I have not seen evidence that helmets are safer in cars with driver airbags.

The issue is not if they are or aren't safer, it's what the insurance company for the track or the event mandates it. Logically I would think a helmet is better than no helmet but that's just me.

FYI, Braidan Tire used to have a coupon printed on the back of Provinz magazine, maybe still there?
  • Save $100 on purchases over $1,000 of helmets, racing suits, wheels & tires (sets of four only)
  • Save $50 on purchases under $1,000 of helmets, racing suits wheels & tires (sets of four only), Pagid pads under $450
