Yes indeed. Ruthless and scary, but his drive led to one of the greatest eras of Porsche domination in sportscar racing, his move to Audi led to the Quattro, and he rose up to create the VAG conglomerate. He was a brilliantly effective man.

So ruthless and scary he created the culture that allowed, nay, required engineers and managers to defraud millions of customers with Dieselgate. Which ultimately cost VW $34B and counting and put some poor scapegoats in prison.
