Oh man, I wish. the driver in that video is Bill Wise with BNR. He's here on Rennlist....phenominal. he left NOTHING on the track on that lap, outstanding to watch. I have yet to make the trip over to the green hell, someday soon hopefully.
GM has done a great job making affordable sports cars that can lay down supercar numbers. they are still a chevy inside though....plastic and poor fitting panels. take it for what it is....I'll take a C8 over the new GT4 for a track car, eveyday...

The problem with the Corvette is that for an non Vette fan, the look between the base model and the top of the line one (C7R for example) are very little. I guess this is true for all Merican muscle cars. You have to be a gearhead to notice the difference and because of this, it dilutes the gene pool of the Corvette brand. They all pretty much look the same and there is a stupid number of variants. My buddy has a C7R and it is a bitchn' car BUT because it looks like all the other C7s, the specialty of his car gets lost.

A lot of people unfamiliar with the Porsche brand would say the same thing about 911 variants "they all look the same" (and more so than the Corvette over the decades). Like all brand fans, the variants are very distinct to us, but to others they are similar. The Corvette variants are very distinct to me, as are the many versions of 911's.

Me trash??

That's why I hang out with Porsche guys. My car gets more attention.

Jack as far back as I can remember, thats pretty far, the Z06 has always had issues with the Motor, like Blowing UP due to oil starvation, mechanical issues, and now with the current iteration
a class action lawsuit. Surely you can see why people buy Porsches, and now Mclarens Jack.

GM has always been run by beancounters, that is the crux of the problem. Charge for a better interior, make the motor reliable, and I can assure you more will buy into the brand.
If Mustang can build a 350R, why can't GM?!
The Corvette is GM's Halo car, and it goes into Limp mode. Thats not Good Jack.....

Porsche has their issues as well. IMS cylinder scoring. Not cheap to repair. That's the main reason I didn't buy another Porsche.
Yes the LS7 engines have their issues, but at least they're cheap to repair. I had the oiling system updated plus I had the valve guide issue looked at.

I didn’t say that Porsche’s don’t have issues,
my point was these have persisted since the inception of the Z06! When are they going to figure it out?!

They should change the company name to GN
Gross Negligence!

This is your ****ing Halo Car!

The lawsuit specified that a defect with the Z06’s cooling system can cause the car to overheat and enter “limp mode” after as little as 15 minutes of spirited track driving. Indeed, the problem was widespread enough that it showed up during Motor Trend Best Driver’s Car testing years ago. The C7 Corvette Z06 was a DNF that year.

Ha Ha my friend has one of those, a 2015 Z06 convertible. He took it to Mosport when he got it and it went into limp mode after a couple of laps. Now he sticks to his P cars

Looks very Ferrari-ish under the wrap IMHO - I would say in terms of bang for the buck its going to be a lot cheaper than a Prancing Pony. Say what you like about the reliability - It's going to we way better than the Ferrari in terms of cost of ownership.

I used to live up in Ottawa, when Callabogie track opened a lot of people brought Porsche's (mainly from Florida when dollar was at par), after a year or two an awful lot had changed over to Corvettes - when I asked one of the guys why the response was - ''you get 80-90% of the on-track capabilities and after selling the Porsche you are $20K better off - and most people don't use that last 10 - 20% on the track"

It will be interesting to see this when it comes out....can't wait for driving impressions.

This is so true. When I used to go to the track, I spent a fair amount of time in a Z06 back to back with a 996TT on the same day. The Z06 was truly 80% of the 996 but half the price. And yeah, no way was I using that last 20%.

And of course the C8 will look like a Ferrari. The C7 design was such a copy I was surprised there wasn't a lawsuit!

Well, I have neither but am a huge Porsche fan with their history and seeing how ridiculously well they perform at Mosport when I'm out there with them......but for bang-for-buck it's tough to beat the C5Z06. Here in the States they're going for $20K or less; engine problems, drop in a crate motor with more power than the stock one for $5-6k.

Though I'd kill to be able to track a GT4 or that GT3 currently being advertised below

We were only talking about how to distinguish the variants of these cars from one another. Both brands have mechanical issues, sure, but way different topic....

Reliability is a distinguishing factor as many Porsche owners are also track drivers.

Going on Hot Dog Runs maybe important to some,
pretty sure that’s what Sports cars were not designed for.....
