Voluntary. I tried it for a while. Just turned my data off in the Porsche. Drive the DD pretty normally. Got up to an 18% discount but needed to wait until my policy renewed to cash in. Deleted the app as I didn't feel like being big brothered.

I have T D as well .......you have to have it off for a min of 45 days. They also offer a winter tire discount , which doesn’t give much of a discount when I take it off the road for Dec, Jan, Feb, which is when they want the snows on, and March, but gives a better discount when I put the car back on insurance in April. I was hoping to get a few more runs in last October but the weather didn’t cooperate.....when I called in December , they asked when the last time I drove it and back dated the insurance off for an extra month.....nice........the app can be disabled for times when snowmobiling, boating , cycling etc by turning off location services for the app. It shuts down if there is not a lot of memory on your phone or if the power drops below10% or so

With insurance i would always suggest an insurance broker. They will serve your interests better than a call in center. Especially if an issue arrises they will go to bat for you, instead of being transferred from associate to “manager”.
Always look for service and price, rather than just price alone.

I have had the TD app for over 18 months, got 20% off. I switched to TD because my broker could not get me insurance for my daughter going to school in the US.....or rather he could for a mere $6000.

What do most do for insurance during track day events? It appears that some here have unfortunate experience in that area, some advise would be appreciated before I sign up for my first DE. I also have TD insurance.
