Thumbs down Ultramar Fuel now contains Ethanol in Ontario

Pulled up to my local Ultramar gas station today in the GTA and as I pulled up the attendant was adhering the "may contain up to 10% ethanol" decals on the pumps. The attendant knows me from filling up my cars there regularly and I asked him what gives ?

He said Ultramar now has signed some sort of partnership with Esso and moving forward will be receiving fuel from them and thus the ethanol decals. He also stated that he heard that they may be introducing a no ethanol blend to their premium fuel but he could not confirm it.

Not sure if this would be only for presumably Ontario only ?? If anyone has any additional info on this please let us know and in the interim scratch Ultramar gas stations from your 911 fill up list.

specifically Premium? Thats what I would be interested in.
My understanding was No Ethanol in Premium but has Always had ethanol for Reg.
So now they sell with? in Premium?

Note 65% of all fuel sold was made by Esso for Ontario - so I was told by an Informed source.

Another reality - when the station or Retailer runs out - Who do they call?
Answer- Esso

Even Shell? Hmmm lets say maybe to avoid obvious Lit or IMHO
So who's gas are you getting when esso sells 65% of Ontario gas?

Not sure if that info or situation has changed last few years.
Especially when you consider oil producers in Canada over last few years - all gone south.
I doubt it but want to know

Nope went back today all three grades now contain 10% . The attendant did say they are going to introduce a 93 blend that is suppose to not contain ethanol in late March or April.

93 blend? Blend of what? 89 is a blend of 87 and 91, What are they blending to get 93? The station would have to get new pumps to have extra option for 93.

My dealer told me they are hearing the there may be a regulatory change requiring all gas to include ethanol. Pain in the butt.

Thought Shell still offers ethanol free Premium. Did that change since the Fall?

PC Ultra 94 I believe contains Ethanol. It was the old Sunoco 94.

What's with all this fear of ethamol? Do the watercooled 911 have issues with degrading fuel lines or is this some sort of an internet hype?

In modern cars...I'm betting internet hype of the obsessed variety. But I'm no expert. I buy the hype and fuel with ethanol free for storage.

Official reply from Ultramar

We are sorry for the inconveniences. Our Supreme may contain Ethanol since February 1st in our Ontario gas stations. We have transferred your complaint to the supervisor.

Thank you

My '85 carbed mustang never had a problem running on modern fuel. It was totally stock. Idled like a fuel injected carb. Surprising since it had a 4 barrel factory holley carb. I have had some minor issues with bad quality fuel in some outboards. But this was the fuel quality not the ethanol. In fact both my neighbour and I were having problems with our smaller outboards. We retraced our steps and we had purchased gas from the same retailer on the same day. Went to get new gas at a different retailer, problem solved.

In Jake Raby's latest video (part 2) on Bore Scoring, he specifically calls out Ethanol as a contributing factor to Bore Scoring. My interpretation was that alcohol washes down the cylinder walls from effectively than gasoline potentially contributing to bore scoring.
