Greetings from THE REFINERY!
Hi everyone!
I’ve been on Rennlist since I purchased my first Porsche - a Guards Red 993 C4S in 2014, and I’ve gotten to know many of you from the Rennlist forums, PCA driving events or different 911 meets in Toronto.
I’ve recently left corporate life to start a business I’m truly passionate about, and I’ve named it THE REFINERY. In short, it’s a detailing shop built for enthusiasts.
We’re here to deliver exceptional results in paint correction, ceramic coatings, and paint protection films. Our shop is an attractive and comfortable environment where our work is always on display. It is conveniently located 5-10mins from the downtown Toronto core and 1min from both the Gardiner + DVP. We’re factory trained and certified by Ceramic Pro, XPEL, and we’re mentored by one of the top paint correction shops in the US.
I’m an engineer by education (and nature ) and have lived in sales, marketing and customer experience roles for most of my career. This translates into a driving need for delivering exceptional customer experiences, providing valuable advice and insights, and operating in an open and transparent way.
If you’re looking for help or advice with paint polishing & correction, ceramic coatings or paint protection film, please reach out via PM/phone/email - or just drop by the shop! I’ll also be keeping an eye on this forum to help out whenever I can. Also - our online store at www.therefinery.ltd is growing weekly with the products we use at THE REFINERY if you prefer to take the hands-on approach with your cars.
We don’t only work on Porsche’s – but wouldn’t that be great?
Gerard.

And that's how I felt driving through the city every day. There aren't great options for high-end detailing in the downtown. I wanted to create something super accessible for those who live and/or work in the city. And highway access is literally 200m away.
Looking forward to meeting you!

Thanks for letting us know about your new business, a welcome addition to the east end. I'm 15 minutes away (at most) by car and within easy walking distance.
I would love to stop in, check out your shop and learn about your services. When is best to visit you next week?
Well done and best of luck!

Looking to get the front of my Porsche done with XPEL this season. I've got a couple of stone chips. Are you capable of dealing with this as well?
Oh and nice looking shop!

Shop looks really nice, congrats! The fact that you're exactly 1km from my house (2 mins) helps as well.
Any chance you offer pick up/drop off service? Shoot me a PM, would be interested in what you might be able to offer on a more basic inside/out clean for my wife's perpetually filthy Golf R.

Yes, I have a chip specialist who comes in as needed. The goal with stone chip repair is to fool the eye by eliminating variations in color (ie the chip mark is usually black, white, or grey). But even though you can obscure the chip by adding color back, you can never level the chip mark perfectly, and there will always be a variation in surface texture (like a little divot or indentation).
The nice thing about using film after filling stone chips is that the film provides a new, glossy and uniform texture across the whole panel. It's a good approach.
