Default McCarthy Pfaff Exhaust

Here is a clip of the McCarthy exhaust, built by Mike McCarthy of Pfaff Porsche, on a 997.2 C4S. I've seen people on here asking about this exhaust so I thought I'd post this clip. Obviously iPhone quality recording is not that great and this is just a short clip of the car in 1st gear and nowhere near redline. The exhaust is quiet enough when cruising, no drone but when you step on the gas boy does it come alive. I love it. Mike has built 3 exhausts for me, 2 for a 911 and 1 for my cayman s and they have all been great. I got so many compliments on the exhaust sound in my Cayman S.

Have the same on my 2015 981. Intoxicating sound. 1st thing passengers comment on. They can't do this mod on the new turbo 4's. Throws engine codes I think.

I also have it on my 987.2 and honestly feel that this is the best sounding exhaust for the platform. It’s subtle and doesn’t drone when cruising on the highway, but has a throaty, aggressive sound that really brings out the flat six sound. PSE also sounds great, but I personally find that other aftermarket systems lose that characteristic flat six character (Fabspeed, Soul, etc). I highly recommend this for anyone that wants an affordable, great sounding mod.

Ouch! That Porsche premium gets you every time. This should not be more than $500 if they only went by time & material.
Rear bumper and mufflers R&R is about an hour to an hour and half, let's go with 1.5hr. Lets say 1 hour to weld in the bypass for each muffler so all this totals at 3.5 hours then, add $75 for materials and that's a little over $500 before taxes. ($125.hr x 3.5hr)+$75 = $512.50. Anything above that is a Porsche tax.

Mike builds an entirely new exhaust system for this and replaces the existing one. He doesn't just weld bypasses. He builds 2 side mufflers and a center muffler on his own time and with specific customer considerations in mind, no two exhausts are the same, and then they get installed at Pfaff Porsche.

My understanding is he cuts open the mufflers and moves the baffles. How loud the sound depends on the changed position of baffles. Customer can request how loud. No by pass. Looks stock.
Maybe expensive but I can't do it so.......

Anyone have this done on a 996 Turbo? I'd love to hear one.

I had a 996 Turbo years ago and Mike modified the exhaust. No sound clip, but definitely worth the price

that has to be one of the most annoying things, when someone else decides what your rates should be how much you should make. So going by that post, there’s zero value in RnD. Zero value in warranty. And nothing ever goes wrong so so yes it’s always exactly 3.5 hrs.
