Isn't it a constant drain on the battery? Aren't there lots of posts of people disabling it because of dead batteries?
Its doesn't when brand new but when the internal battery wears out, it draws off the car battery and from past experience kills the battery at least ever 2 years even when you have a trickle charger and plug in while not in use.

If someone stole your car...would you even want it back? Assuming you aren't talking about a family heirloom or very special vintage vehicle, I would rather my insurer pay me than wonder what kind of internal damage could have been done while it was not in my hands.
Most insurers have "replacement cost" coverage now for newer vehicles, so you don't even get the depreciation hit.

Thanks.
Just confirmed with my insurance company that I'm covered for 2yrs replacement cost without taking any hit.
They did not explain this properly initially but asked if the car had a tracking device.
