If a fully restored car is worth 100k than an unrestored one is worth at least 95k. Right? Some people watch too much Barrett Jackson.
Better yet.. "not for sale, will restore with my grandson" can also replaced with son or daghther. I know where there is a G50 3.2 Carrera just sitting in a garage on 4 flat tires. Car is a 4.5 or 5/10 but the paint work is okay, body straight. I made a very fare offer and showed up with a trailer as we agreed on the price. Owner pulled the "oh you know what these are worth on bring a trailer " card followed by the resto with his grandson. His wife was very upset and told him "just take the money, grandson is 30 years old and isn't interested" sadly now he wanted 5k more . I just was not ready to dish that out. Lots of parts had been taken off the car for some reason but it still did start and run rough, but run nonetheless if you bypassed the fuel tank. I figured for 4-5k in repairs and parts I could have a good driving car...
To add insult to injury , he listed the car online during the winter for less than what I had offered saying how he was sick and did not want to burden his wife.
