Default Winter battery storage opinion

What is the consensus for battery storage for the winter. For my 993tt...should I keep it on the battery charger plugged into my lighter all winter or disconnect the battery altogether and let it sit in the car in the unheated garage (which never gets all that cold).

BTW....the charger is the proper Porsche variable charge unit which I understand steps up or down pending charge required.

Thx in advance.

Plug it in and walk away.

Keep it on the tender unless you have aftermarket devices that can cause a slow draw (dash cam, etc) than probably better to remove battery and leave it on the tender.

Happy napping!

For many years I've always left it on a proper charger.

Either leave it on the battery tender or disconnect it.

A battery maintainer fluctuates the voltage and thats what you need to treat the battery and make it last. Just enough, but not too much charge, dancing on the head of a pin. It prevents the growth of dendrites and those kill batteries.

I always use battery maintainers all winter, and leave the cars and forget them...

I pull the battery, keep it inside and throw it on a charger every week or two for a day.

that's definitely old school. Nothing wrong with it but that's why they invented battery tenders so you wouldn't have to do that .. CTEK for the win.

Make sure the battery is healthy; fluid at the proper level in the cells, and the vent tube properly working.
