Cross thread from GT3 Board - Promise not to ask again - Targa Now Sold
All....cross tread in play here and tired of beating this dead issue but one last time. I have a decent (not great) offer on my PTS Targa4S loaded Burmester and a Decent (yet not great) offer on my 993TT excellent shape but not a museum piece. With the characteristics of these cars, what is a better 2 car Porsche Garage - a) GT3 touring & 993 tt {stick/ visceral & stick visceral air cooled} OR b) GT3 Touring & Targa 4s PTS loaded {stick visceral & quiet luxury). Seems to me the GT3 and 993TT almost give the same experience - just interested in your opinion(s). I promise not to ask again.

There will always be more modern Targa 4S's to buy if you change your mind. Getting a 993 Turbo is more difficult. Which one excites you more when you walk into your garage?
I would likely try to keep the 993 to go with the GT3T especially if you have other good daily driver cars. Do you need 2 modern 911's?
What do you think of the RS3? I almost bought one but didn't want to wait 3 months so I bought a Macan GTS instead.

I have zero 993TT experience.
But outside looking in perspective is this. GT3 Touring and 993TT, difference isn't only air and water. Since I can't speak to the driving experience, do you like the aesthetic design of the 993TT? Do you like owning a significant piece of 911 history? Will you want one down the road if you sell now?
991 PTS Targa Luxury Car - Can't you just get a another one later if you must? OR something very close. Luxury 911 will always be there as Porsche is ever expanding into the non-enthusiast market. Questions would be - will there always be a Targa? Can I get PTS?

Do you love the 993 for it's driving bliss, or do you love the value?
Would you still want to keep the 993 if it wasn't worth much?
IMO, if a car doesn't get driven, there is no value...

No one can answer this question for you.
On the boards, I'm sure the majority of people will opt for the 993. It's rare. It's air cooled. It's a classic.
But your Targa is beautiful, and new and probably just as fast, if not faster than the 993.
In my opinion, I'd keep the 993. If it doesn't get driven much, it'll at least appreciate in value. That Targa is going to lose value pretty quickly.
If money was no issue, it would be nice to get in a Targa that starts every time, drives nicely, has room, etc. etc.
Obviously, it's your call.

Unless you've got 10 digits in your bank account, collecting a depreciating asset is foolish at best.
