Default Restore a Porsche

Hi All,
Do you think below is a feasible option

Get a 964 body from some junkyard and do up the car,
get a used 964 or 993 engine and send for LTA inspection.
buy a COE and then drive the car on the road.

Cheers

The LTA will not allow non-matching engine/chassis numbers, everything must match, or they will not clear the car. Besides, most 964s or 993s which get wrecked here usually get sent out of the country quickly to collect on scrap value and to part out overseas.

I agree with InC, you should look for a project 964 or 993 in one of the second hand shops and work from there. Expect to budget at least around S$100,000 for the cost of a 964 in decent running order, any repairs needed are going to cost more on top of that so be prepared.

PM me if you are interested, I'm happy to share what I've learned on this topic...

Quite a few 964 coupes transacted in '07 for well under S$100K with most around $70-80K (good condition). I almost picked up one C2 cab on an SC logcard for just S$55K (thought of using it for spares for mine then part it out) but it was running rough & needs a lot of work. Gave it a miss then.

Some 993s have fallen to low S$100K lately as well.
