More rubber = more grip! Plenty of people running 275 and they look cool too :)

Doug, I don't suppose you have researched what track rim options are in 19"? If the arms race continues I may need to put some track shoes on the R.

No because I'm not intending to put track shoes on her (at this point anyway)

I'd look to 18s for track. Better choice of R comps I think and cheaper.

Maybe something for you to research while killing time in Aus John? Now that the dollars are closer what's your view of the market differential? (Something else for you to do :-)

Only thing to remember with moving to 275/35 is you have now changed your effective gearing over factory.....

Petes right. 18 is best for choice. If you want to improve your chances on road tyres go MPSS instead of the Bridgestones. The MPSS will be quicker. If you want stay 19 look at MPSC2 for R comps not sure if they have the sizes....

Doug, I've dreamed of parity for the 30 years I've been following the markets. Certainly worth arbitraging costs at this level but I wouldn't bet in it getting much stronger.

Some costs are already good. Last week I bought an IPhone and saved a heap with the GST refund. Unfortunately I can't take tyres as carry on luggage. I will check the cost though as it may still be worth it. Mind you with a full set of 17in Z221s, 2 spare Z221s and a couple of 214s it really should be Herman on the track pushing it.

I've was earning AUD for 8 years till 12 months ago. To be perfectly honest there wasn't anything to spend it on in Australia other than Apple products. Everything else there seems pricy (not as expensive as NZ but not as cheap as USA & UK etc). All I ended up with was equities and their ASX200 has been crap the last few years save Bank stocks. If you find anything worth buying let me know as I still have some AUD :-(

Really? Same diameter specs just 10mm wider. Ie std are 265/35R19, these tyres 275/35R19. All other specs appear the same. Spec wise they fit the rims just fine too.

Nothing apart from Apple so far and even then you have to fight off the mainland Chinese to get served at the Apple Store.

Not by a material amount - about an inch bigger on the rolling circumference.

From what I understand sidewall is measured factoring in tyre width, so a 265/35/19 isn't the same height as a 275/35/19, hence the OEM size for my car being F 235/35/19 and R 305/30/19. My incredibly accurate eyeometer tells me the profile of the tyres is very similar front to back... (This statement comes from little or no research so take it with a decent pinch of salt!).

1.08% bigger.

Wow, always something to learn aye :-D

nzskater 02-14-2015 02:40 AM

Matters more on the 4wd cars (so I've learnt now that I own one, not keen on killing the differential). This is handy: http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator

Just something to look forward to and I can see why a 944 makes sense if I want to get more track time. Especially if you can get one with a bit of track time and work done on it already. At the moment there is a couple for sale but of the 2.5 variety. Would like to get the big four.

What about this 3.0L 1990 S2? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used...-842107346.htm

And yes, I'm still lurking on this thread, adding to views...
