Need ideas for simple (2 channel) data logger
I realize Ill probably end up with a "real" logger... But before I make that leap, are there any simple ones to capture slow moving metrics... Specifically oil temp/pressure and trans temp. Don't need a dash... Alarm / warning would be nice, but mainly something I could download at the end of a session/day and see if I had problems.

I don't know anything outside of an industrial logger of some sorts. You best bet would be to buy an old data system from someone.

The advent of cheap miniature computers like raspberry pi have made this possible. I think for less than $60-$75, you could do this. A simple search took me here: https://www.element14.com/community/community/stem-academy/blog/2016/01/04/a-raspberry-pi-data-logger-for-about-25-temperature-probe-and-thingspeak

If you are into coding and hardware, a Raspberry-Pi would be an option, I have playing around with the idea, have GPS, accelerometer, working and have a 8 channel analog to digital converter module I haven't tried yet. It also has a few digital input/output pins right on the board.

Yeah, sort of like Race Capture Pro... Plenty of people are.

Ya I'm well versed in microcontrollers.. I built smart irrigation controller around a beaglebone, and tinkered extensively with Arduino.... Just hoping for something in the same price range that is sealed and ready to go.... I was thinking of some kind of industrial device..

$129. Temp range to 310 degrees F. Bluetooth wireless transfer. Self contained and ready to go. Might need two for two temps.

If you have OBD2, there are lots of options. Here's one that is based on Arduino.
