Damn- not bad for $70k. As a '17 SS 1LE owner and Porsche nut, I can vouch that GM is making world class stuff these days.

They claim no, Oppenheiser (chief engineer) volunteered that you'll run out of gas before it overheats anything. Apparently the primary issue was packaging in the corvette. Luckily the Camaro guys had a couple years to get the cooling right.

DAMN, that guy was on point. Judging from the squealing I'm guessing they were on street legal tires.

High end street tires now are arguably better than Hoosiers were ten years ago

I guess we'll see if that's actually true. The recent Camaro Z/28 (NA) would also consistently overheat on the track - multiple sources of this. Except in Z/28's case no limp mode due to MT.

Car is impressive, and the drive is very committed! The shocks must be good if they can go over curbs at 140+! I'm also surprised that GM development engineers are familiar enough with the 'Ring to drive it with that level of aggression!

Biggest elephant in the room?
Where is the C7 Corvette Z06 'Ring time?
Paging Tadge. The Z06 Fan Boys are holding on line 1.

Saw this earlier in the week and was very impressed. I can't wrap my head around why these high-level Camaros are so good, especially compared to their Corvette siblings. It's the same Z06 drivetrain, but in a significantly heavier car, with a higher center of gravity, a less track-focused basic platform/design, and a much less slippery body shape. How do they get the Camaro to be so competitive given these seeming liabilities?
