In my opinion there is not much of a difference between racing and DE which warrants dispensing with safety equipment. I've seen just as much $hit go down at DE events as I have at race weekends.

Accordingly, don't stop with the gloves! If someone gives you $hit for wearing a race suit at a DE event they are an idiot.

I'm so comfortable with gloves, I even wear them riding shotgun, when I instruct. Just feels (safe) right.

Is also helps in the colder months when giving points -by's which as Tremper says, adds to the visibility of the hand.
I like better the grip on Alcantara and gloves,especially considering the relatively thin steeing wheel on my GT3. My favs are Alpine Star 1ZX which have the seems on the outside, you can get good deals on the previous season models. Tried a set of stand 21, they were awesome but could not get the rep before he left the track to get a pair

Without gloves I'd change the steering wheel for std leather as I don't feel grip adhesion with bare hand on alcantara (which would led me to grip tighter..}

What are those "mirror" things of which you speak?

Thanks for the input guys. Our DE days are small, as is our track (top speed around 100 mph, pretty much all 3rd gear). Not too much opportunity to try gear unfortunately. I might try one of my lighter MC gloves, to see about the feel on the wheel (which is my big concern). I'm not a death grip kind of guy and didn't have any serious issues with sweat last year, just thinking I could improve feel.

Jeez...me to for that reason. I have had a few puzzled looks from students but if something happened, I prefer to have my hands ready.

I often wear gloves even with daily driver- I'm more comfortable. Always on ride to track. -

Regardless of the feel preference, i consider gloves a part of a safety system. I wear some tight fitting Sparcos (cant remember model).

I wear them when it is cold. Otherwise, I loose a little bit of feel on the wheel. I do think that they add an element of safety, although I've never seen anyone benefit from a safety perspective by wearing gloves in a DE.
I have Sparco gloves that have a very grippy synthetic surface.

I would suggest buying them when you are able to try a bunch of different gloves on. Good fit is the key to liking them.
