Default Zone 1 PCA Watkins Glen

Zone 1 PCA WGI just opened for registration.

I went to register this morning and lots of folks going.

Can't wait, last year had a great time!

I signed up first thing this morning...it'll be my first time driving the Glen, so I'm pretty pumped. See you there!

Anyone have a WGI primer? I'm looking for stuff like:
what airport to fly in?
What is good hotel there? I'm partial to Hilton properties.
Where are the must restaurants for foods to try?
Is there a stellar must try pie, BBQ, meatloaf?
Isn't there a must see bar near the track where pictures of old famous racers adorn the walls?

I have never flown in but I think there is an airport in Elmira. Must see bar is the Seneca Lodge Bar, Ask to look at their notebook that has a large collection of old racers and races. Another old motel with history is the Glen Motor Inn but not quite as good. The Best hotel is the Harbor Hotel, Very Good is The Falls, Don't take your wife or GF to the Seneca Lodge. For food I like Wildflower Cafe & Crooked Rooster Brewpub. The same owners have Nickel's Pit & BBQ. A little North of town is the F.L.X. Wienery which is a little different and recommended. The old standby breakfast restaurant is closed and I'm liking the Glen Mountain Market for breakfast.

I fly into Elmira/Corning a dozen times a year. I stay at the Harbor Hotel (long since sold out) or Hampton Inn Elmira. Plenty of good places to eat in the Village of Watkins Glen and in Corning. My must-do is Stonecat on the East side of Seneca lake. Great place, be my thirty-fourth year, this year!

For food, Mr. Chicken closed down this year, but just 20 minutes up the lake on the eastern shore south of Lodi is Dano's, a Viennese cuisine restaurant, casual but clean:

I'm really sad to miss this year's event.

I had an absolute blast last year and hope to be there again next year! Have fun everyone!

Does WGI allow camping in the paddock, and are there any shower facilities on site? My plan is to just camp out in or next to my trailer

Prizebox BBQ - next to Parmenter for lunch. Best bang for the buck meal in town. Its a shack but the food is amazing.

My friend and I both got confirmed today!
Anyone else?

Just booked the hotel.
Now, I'm nervous and slowly getting excited.
