A gentlemens' wager regarding the new RSR
#31
This is still technically a GT3 RS according to the rules. Porsche said they didnt even need a waiver to make their rear engine car mid engine which shows how lax the rules have gotten. This is not the same GT class as we saw in ALMS. Other than HP it seems to almost be looser than the old GT1 rules.

As per the guys I know at Core: the RSR is a 911 Chassis - actually VERY similar to the GTD car they run - with some modifications in the back. It's not a Cayman Chassis...
The rules that allow Porsche to move the engine forward of the rear axle is that there is no rule as to the exact PLACEMENT of the engine. Every race car has the engine moved from what a street car would be: Corvette/BMW move it back, even Ferrari moves it down and forward a little from what a street car is. So...Porsche took that literally and moved it forward - which based on where it ends up, necessitated a relocation of the trans (now behind the engine). That's why there was no waiver needed....just a loophole in the rules that Porsche exploited (something they've always been good at).
