944 Racers, What suspension Manufacturer to go with?
Hi Guys, I would like some feedback on what experience you may have with different Manufacturers of racing suspensions. From what I can see, there are about 3 main options, Moton, JRZ and Intrax. (all in the neighborhood of 7k+) I have a 88 Turbo-s, This for me is the single most important purchase for this build. Id like to know your experience and what really works well. I was a Crew Chief for an open wheel modified and we won several championships on $70 shocks, Simplicity and basics in that sport prevailed over all the bells and whistles from the higher end stuff. Road Course is a totally different animal, hence my posing the question. I am tempted to get springs for the first season and run the konis I have as I develop the car. All Inputs are welcome..
Thanks!
Thanks!

I run the Bilstein Escort Cup shocks on my race car with 675lb springs. They are not adjustable and very simple, but they work. Previously that car had LEDA shocks which were double adjustable, but I found that once I set the shocks I never went back to tweak them. Both of those were good, but I prefer the Bilsteins. Sorry I can't help you out on the higher end stuff.

they will tune the shock to your needs. What spring set up are looking at, do you have coil overs in the back?

Thanks for the input, I am starting out in Stock "F" So I from what I can see I believe the rules dont allow the removal of the torsion bars. I will eventually Run SP3 and remove them and run a only the coil over in the rear. Im a bit on the fence about that, I have heard stories about the lower bolt shearing off.

As far as Stock F or SP3 I would look at which was more popular in my area and decide that way. The one with the largest group is the way I would decide, there will be a lot of people at the track you can learn from.

Upgrade the lower bolts to a stronger spec and you should be fine. I have 10 years on mine and no issues.
I have Moton 2-ways, which have since become MCS. I've had no issues w/ them over 10 years and it's nice being able to adjust for specific tracks.

Just to be clear, Moton did not become MCS. Moton was started by a ex JRZ people. They built Moton up and sold it to AST. Then they started MCS. The Moton and MCS shocks are all based on the designs that originated at JRZ, though JRZ has continued the development the most IMHO.
