I can see Max moving over there after his contract is done in 17 or possibly sooner.

Yeah i thought it was a joke too when i read it this morning. Hope they give the seat to Wehrlein. I'd like to see what he can do. Grosjean would be another good candidate.

Very few people manage to retire when on top. Nico is very young still and will now be able to enjoy different aspects of his life. He seems very family-focused and I sense that this is a big part of his decision. Lots of respect from me!!

Although it makes sense not to destabilize Lewis with a tough teammate for the short term, I think longer term Mercedes wants to be certain of having a top star if Lewis walks away in the relatively near future, which I think is also a possibility as he too seems to have interests away from racing.

I think getting a Verstappen/Alonso/Ricciardo/Vettel will be hard, as those will be expensive contracts to buy out.

Why do people mention Alonso, Button or Massa ?
They are all washed up, done drivers
Best bet would be Perez or Hulk

Doubt it...he is a Monaco rich kid that needed to prove he could accomplish something. Now that he has, he can and will loaf the rest of his life. I know the type.

MB seemed quite pleased to have two world champions going into next year. Vettel seems pretty unhappy at Ferrari...I could see MB switching one German for another...

I would expect Hulk - I don't think they'll get Max to switch with the incoming regs, the Mercedes dominance is probably a thing of the past. Redbull will be very strong with a proper power unit next year.

Sorry guys... Posted before I had finished the thread!

(I did however turn on the answering machine for the HWFM drivers above, in case our friend Herr Lauda calls)

good for him

he achieved his goal and is ready to move on, no reason to stick around if he isn't enjoying it and the best he can hope to do is equal what he has already accomplished
