Default Cheaper to buy Hans from Europe?

Was searching for a used HANS device on eBay. Many new ones show up from the uk, Poland, etc, for $350 shipped. Sellers with 5000+ sales, so I know it's not a scam, 99% positive feedback...

That's 1/2 the price of buying here... I assume the higher costs are to cover legal concerns...

Anyone brought from Europe? Seems like a no brainier... What am I missing?

Don't know? Model numbers are exactly the same... Pics look the same...

Lots of eBay sellers from England and Poland, selling race seats, harnesses, etc...

Here you go, demon tweeks, http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motors...ii-hans-device

News HANS device for $250...

Crap... Just read the fine print. For various reasons will not ship to the USA.

Hmmmm. Can you say we get screwed...?

There is a lot of stuff substantially cheaper in the EU right now. Look at a certain brand of helmets from Italy. They are about $1K cheaper than in the US, at least for black friday. Still giving my business to Clark and Linda at Apex though.

Assuming the items are not fake, the US$ currency exchange rate to the U.K. pound and Euro is in your favor and there is nothing wrong with taking advantage of it, HOWEVER familiarize yourself with how you get the VAT back (or don't pay it in the first place) and how much shipping will cost and import tax you will have to pay in the US.

Been looking for Michelin Slicks and they are super cheap in Europe, however no dealer is allowed to export them to the US.

Bought a Recaro P1300 GT seat from a dealer in the U.K. and even with the $260 shipping charge, it still cost nearly $1000 less than what I would have paid for same in U.S. No VAT and no import tax on anything I have bought from European dealers.

As ProCoach said, you may not get an SFI cert., but you do get an FIA cert. which should get you SFI equivalence.

A far as the Hans, it appears Simpson, Michelin and others have carved out some pricing protection for their distributors. It would be
interesting to hear the "no export to the U.S." reasoning.

By the way, I'm not neglecting our domestic dealers. They still get the lion's share of my business.

Not sure if I'm understanding the small print. According to the website, the only part that they don't include with shipping to the USA is the helmet bag.

Incorrect. If you look at the HANS products and scroll down on that page you see the notice he is referencing. That is even before you add it to the basket. That notice does not show on Schroth equivalents.

The Hans units that are $250, have the following notice:

Unfortunately we are unable to ship this product to the USA. This item will be removed from the order once processed and any monies will be refunded accordingly

Oddly, some of the HANS do not, like the one for $299. They also have schroth restraints for $300

Hmmm. Schroth 6 pt harness is $200....

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/perfor...saloon-harness

Looks like europe has a "clubman" level for these products... we don't have that here?

Prices on the site listed in $... Not Euro or Pound?

Anyone ordered from here...

Can local US suppliers get the "clubman" FHR and harness?

We ordered a couple of Raptor wireless steering wheel systems from Demon Tweeks. Quick shipping and good service.

How much was shipping? Any other fees? Taxes? VAT? Cant get a shipping price without an account, don't want to enter the info until I can get an approximation?

They have free shipping right now to EU, so perhaps discounted for the US?

No fees, VAT or taxes - and shipping is 20-30 GBP. It also takes like 10 seconds of your own mouse and finger use to see for yourself.
