Question Trailers: Torsion or Leaf Spring?

Which type of trailer suspension pulls smoother?

I've noticed most of the suspension and I only looked at aluminum open trailers are torsion, Trailex is leaf spring.

Just wondering if one is better than the other.

I tow with a Texas Rollback that has leaf springs and pulls pretty smooth. I do know it is very sensitive to tire pressure and weight load.

I've always heard the torsion bar trailers are smoother, but I have no complaints with my leaf spring trailer.

Ron,

My Trailex with my V6 4Runner tows just fine with the leaf springs. 'Course, I'm not riding on the trailer while it's being towed, either.

Got torsion bars on a Cargopro open aluminum and it works really well. Have caught myself at 85+ MPH and the ride was very smooth.

Pulling a 2002 C2 with a Silverado 2WD with their smallest5 V8.

I have a 24' enclosed unit, a Haulmark with TORSION suspension.

I have probably tried 5 different trailers out over the years, owning two of them, borrowing others or taking a friend's car up on theirs - the torsion spring axles on my Haulmark are just nothing short of PLUSH!!

It's unbelievable how I can go over railroad tracks, etc. the truck "jolts" and when the trailer wheels go over, sometimes you can't even feel it in the least bit.

My "two cents" anyway.
