I biased so you can probably guess my opinion, but I would like to hear different point of views.......

Race Car
Ive raced in F and gtb1, both great class.
I had more competition in gtb1 probably due to the fact that some are old semi pro drivers, continental and gt3 cup challenge drivers.
I think the overall field is better in gtb1.
Spec boxster looks like fun but i dont feel like owning another slow boxster lol

I don't race in GTB1, but I race with that class a lot, and agree that they seem to be the most competitive class.

"Competitive" means that there are several folks competing in the same class and that stand an equal chance of winning. Basically, that the outcome is not a foregone conclusion.

By that definition, is gtb1 more competitive than spb (in the East)?

I don't know. Seen some great F battles, too.
I should have said an "equal chance of doing well," i.e. Top-3, Top-5 or Top-10, with minimal spreads in lap times, instead of "winning."
That's "competitive," to me.

To me, a competitive class means a class where racers with a wide range of skills all have one or more other drivers with whom they can play. As their skils improve, they play with faster cluster of drivers. So defined, competitiveness is highly correlated with class size.

That too, of course.

I agree with Seb in that GTB1 is a very competitive class because the fields are relatively large, the skill level of drivers is very high and the cars that are thrown into the class (996, Gen I Cayman, Gen II Cayman, Gen II Cayman with PDK) will do better on some tracks than others. Even with similar lap times, the different types will all have different speed advantages on different parts of the track. Given that most everything but motor and gears are free rule wise, car set-up nuances also make a huge difference. That means that staying ahead requires experience, racecraft, preparation and strategy and not just driver skill alone which makes the outcome on most GTB1 races rather unpredictable and therefore competitive.
Spec and some letter classes like SPB and E have much more homogeneous and more equally matched car populations (i.e. They seem to be more equally matched car to car) but the races seem to be more predictable in terms of outcome since it is largely driver skill.
