Default NJMP Lightning: Oct 7-8 Any instructors here?

NJMP Lightning: Oct 7-8

Considering doing this event.

I have only done one event Zone 1 48 @ WGI and enjoyed it.

Thinking about driving down Friday afternoon, then doing Saturday.

Are any of you folks going to be instructors for the Green Group

TY

Not sure if he ever posts in this particular forum but user Acropora is an instructor who is already signed up for that event. Try to PM him

Metro NY runs a great event - Henry, Bill, and everyone else have a lot of experience organizing and executing DE weekends. I've done a number of their DE events and enjoyed every single one, plus Lightning is a fun track. It's not as big or historic as the Glen, but you have some interesting corners, tons of runoff space, and a good flow to the track.

I'm trying to sort out my work schedule to see if I can get away that weekend (though I won't be an instructor).

I looked on registration page, I did not find information on run groups.

Is the green and yellow combined?

How many sessions and for how long?

Any suggestions on hotels close by?

Thanks for the help

>>>Is the green and yellow combined?

This is determined by the registrar when it is close to the DE, based on numbers in each run group. I've seen green in it's own run group, and yellow/blue combined and more often green is combined with yellow.

>>>How many sessions and for how long?

Typically there are 4 25 minute sessions, once in a while they do 5 25 minute sessions

>>>Any suggestions on hotels close by?

Almost everyone stays at the Fairfield in Millville

Metro runs a good event and folks are down-to-earth. Four sessions doesn't sound like much in the abstract but will feel like a full day. NJMP is a super track, in particular for newbies. Not too hard to learn the basic line and run-off is plentiful should you overcook a corner.

I've been running @ NJMP since it opened. Lightning is fun and relatively easy to learn compared to Thunderbolt. IMHO the best hotel is the Fairfield Inn followed by the Country Inn.

What surprised me at NJMP (running Thunderbolt) was the reasonable price for gas, their track gas was cheaper than I pay at home (inside the DC beltway). And in pure NJ fashion, an attendant was there to pump the gas for you

Great, try to come over and say hi if you see me. I'll be hanging out near Bill Rudtner's tractor/trailer (white) and driving a grey spec boxster number 988

Thumbs up for the Fairfield. If you possibly can, do both days. If you don't, you'll be wishing you did.
Lightning has a great flow. As with any track it has it's nuances. I'll guess that Henry, the track chair, schedules a track walk. Walking a track is very informational. I'm also in favor of a classroom for the Blue and White drivers. Green drivers have a class each morning before going on track. I can personally vouch for the quality of instruction given by each Metro Instructor. I'm sure you'll have a great time.
