I think we should all be thankful that Porsche invested in a project like this. To support club racers with a spec racer that is well engineered and sold factory direct is a blessing. Clearly this car is already an over-achiever and fills a niche in the racing community. It doesn't have to be for everyone. The price of admission is not cheap. It does not offer the performance of a cup car and it does not need to. Nor does it offer the astronomical operating expense of a cup car. The list of GT4 racers and their credentials speaks for itself.
These are wonderful times.

Its a great car! We have been asking for a factory midengine platform and now we have it! Taht can only be good.
The development done outside the factory by us racers and shops only took 7 years to catch up! LOL! I was 1 of only 3 Caymans racing back in 2009!
GTB1 cars are great and the best thing is how competitive the class is with 20-30 cars fields at major races; but I suspect we will all eventually migrate to the factory platform because it will no longer make sense to build new Caymans from street cars if the factory cars are available (It will be cheaper in the long run!)

Is to make the car BoP within the FiA GT4 class. What I was told in Germany is that it will have a slightly higher minimum weight but more power so it can compete with the Aston, Camaro and M3 GT4 that currently lead the class.

I would just say that if you want one, I would talk to a range of owners and get several opinions and experience stories on which to base a purchase decision.
It is a nicely built piece, and I considered getting one until my wife pointed out that she liked the Super Bee and another $175k race car was not in my immediate future. Smart lady.

When the GT4 upgrade kit comes out, it will make the car even better and allow it to compete in all FIA GT4 spec races world wide as well as the PWC GTS Class where we plan to run 2-3 of them in PWC for 2017.

Chris, it is what it is and while it could always be better, it's still good enough for more than twenty-four people to buy them for the East Coast series alone. Then, there is the West Coast series and Conti. And I have seen people spend a gazillion dollars on B1, B2 and B3 cars! Hahahaha!
