That was brutal! Glad they are all going to be OK in time. Could have been worse.

That video is a grim reminder of what can go horribly wrong when your vision down track is impeded.
During one of the PCA club races at Buttonwillow last weekend, I came into the last of the esses to see a huge cloud of dust between the esses and sunset corner. Someone had obviously gone off track and dust clouds get pretty dense at Buttonwillow, so I couldn't see what was in or beyond the cloud. I had a very conscious moment of decision about how to proceed; this is a fast section with an exit speed from the esses around 115 mph, and a decent length of straight before the next turn. I double checked my mirror and made the decision to slow considerably before proceeding through, even though it cost me several seconds on the lap (and ultimately allowed the car that went off to get back on track ahead of me). Fortunately the track was clear and I proceeded through safely, if slowly. But I hope I'd make the same decision 10 times out of 10.
