Sad news. They were always a great team to watch and did an amazing job against tough competition. Not to mention - they did it all with a 997!

Any idea why they decided to get out?

That's too bad.. I wonder if the IMSA rules kind of drove them out. They spent a lot of time and money developing the 997.

I loved working with Joe Varde. They are a class act. We won two titles with them. I hope they come back.

I do think with the new rules the 997 is outclassed and favours the GT4 CS. The 997 wasn't going to be legal for much longer anyway. I'm hoping (with zero inside knowledge) that we see them back in a GT4 CS. Or how about 2? Wouldn't that be awesome?

Very sad news - that 997 was probably the best developed car in the GS series. Unfortunately rules were massaged in favor of the Porsche Clubsports in order not to embarrass Porsche. Hope GS Class does not become the Porsche Clubsport Class with nobody else racing.

I know the IMSA guys tore that 997 apart after every race looking for something... They were always convinced it shouldn't have run that strong.

with no chance of running a 991, it looks like it will be clubsports only.

Actually, it looks like GS class is dying. Aston barely hanging on and only Ford somewhat competitive. It's no fun seeing only 8 cars out there. The action is all in ST.

I just loved when the announcers would call out "that's Hugh Plumb in the Rum Bum!" It was like the brothers were made for the team.

Funny thing is the car started to seem awfully small compared to everything else around it.

What a shame.

They need to stop doing split starts. It just looks sad when there's only 7-8 car in the GS class.

Shame to see these guys leave. They were the best 'team' for the last several years. They could never be counted out. I think the Nascar owners were continually tweaking the rules to favor Chivy and Ford.
They did look puny running in GS. And what else is going on that is shrinking the field to so few cars?

I can't find any love for the Clubsports cars after the way they stiff-armed their way into a Group of their own with PCA Club Racing. That just jammed all the other cars into different groups making them too big and too much HP disparity. They get their 20 car 'special group'. PCA is just an extension of Porsche NA marketing department.

IMSA is succeeding at disintegrating what used to be the best racing on TV. Now it's an embarassing shame, 8 starters at Daytona.

I saw the Rum Bum car run at Road America during the August 2015 IMSA races. Very impressive.
