Helped by the red flag but 8 points nonetheless! Awesome result. Wish Gutierrez and Alonso hadn't come together - might have been even more points.

It was the same for everyone (red flag) and they made it work.

Grosjean is a beast! Congrats to Haas!

Very happy for Haas and GRO. To have that result in your first F1 race is pretty amazing for a new team. I believe the announcers said that the only other first year team to do this well in a debut was Toyota in 2002.

Well, tough better Jody Scheckter winning the '77 Argentine GP in the maiden voyage of Walter Wolf's brand spankin' new Postlethwaite car. (Though in fairness, Wolf was a restructured outfit from the ashes of Hesketh with a little bit of Frank Williams thrown in.)

Don't get me wrong, its an awesome result. But HAAS didn't have a pit stop due to the red flag - they got a free pitstop. I don't know what the pit lane delta is in Australia but I think they would have finished outside of the points without this.

I've been watching F1 for a bunch of years now and don't really have a team that I root for. Normally I root for a mid-field underdog. HAAS is now my team!

Kind of upset that this thread is not overflowing. Aren't people excited?

I am...go Haas!!!

As I have already said in another thread...FA wrecking EG was key to RG scoring points for Haas in its maiden race...sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. As for Haas, I think they are both lucky and good...here's to many more points for Haas...

My guess is that they hired EG because they wanted an American driver[yes, I know EG is technically Mexican and not an American but apparently that is now the same thing]...
