Default DE question: car numbers

Hi all,

How do most driving groups handle the scenario where you've got:

1. One car
2. Two drivers
3. Each driver is in a different run group

One number for the car? Or a number for each person, so the car will need two numbers?

Thanks.

Personal experience has it as 2 different numbers in the regions I participate with. Best to contact the region putting on the event and ask them.

the number identifies the driver not the car

If you are sharing a car, it is not uncommon to add a 1 or 7 in front or after the number

For example

driver 1 is 555
driver 2 could be 1555 or 5551 or 7555 or 5557

Its easy to add a 1 or 7 with tape

Blue painters tape does wonders if needed. adding a 1 before or after a number is real easy. Although more than likely they will just use 1 car number for the two run groups.

Forget numbers. Use scientific symbols. Stand out...

So they make you change car numbers between sessions? - that's crazy stressful.

Considering our flaggers are typically doing Wonderword and puzzles, I don't think the extra digit is going to make a huge difference.

It seems odd to me too! As far as I can remember, NCR and NER PCA DE used the same car number when the car was shared. In fact, my wife and I shared the same numbered car but ran in different run groups for years.

When I worked Control with PCA, we had a sheet for EACH run group with the list of cars/drivers. For example, the yellow group might have number 255/Ben Dover and the Black run group would have number 255/Phil McCracken on the rosters.

Do not let them give you some ridiculous high number. I always insist on 3 and 5. Because I drive flat out.....That's how I drive; flat out......

Which is why I always register either as Craven Moorehead, Peter Gozinya, or Girth Brooks
