Default Dempsey taking a break?

Just read today that Patrick Dempsey may be taking a break from racing. He wants to "spend more time with family and acting." Apparently he will complete his two-year contract with Porsche as a team owner/principal only, and not as a driver.

Anyone know the details behind this? The guy would appear to be very talented behind the wheel. Based on what I had read and seen, he seemed to have found his true passion in racing. Wonder what happened...

As VR said, a change in status is imminent.

Patrick is a gentleman driver who has truly become an entry-level professional. It was a pleasure to watch him progress.

Yes it did. She served him at a race track. They reconciled when he decided to pause the racing.

Decided his family life more important than the racing bug. Wise choice.

I wonder if he will still pursue the 24 Hours of the Ring in another couple years.

I hope he can find a balance with both. He is a genuinely good guy.

So you're saying if someone comes up to me at the track and they ask my name, they may not be an adoring fan and just want my autograph? I'll make a mental note.

It appears PD's wife was not able to sustain her tolerance of the risk vs rewards as it relates to both family and finances.

I have seen this happen half a dozen times over the last two decades...

I hear what you are saying, and many people say the same thing, but I disagree with this line of reasoning.

My wife does not like my track activities but she accepts it because she knows I am passionate about it. If you are in a good relationship you have to have a give and take. The minute you tell someone "you can't do something" than it is a problem.

Respect and balances are the keys. If you can't respect what the other person wants out of life than I think the marriage has a problem.

If PD's wife is stopping him from racing than it will only end in an even more bitter divorce a few years from now.

He has progressed over the years, from pay driver, to serious racer through hard work, coaching and just getting seat time. Of course his financial position made it easier for him to work at it. Showed the drive and talent to improve his skills over the years.

Us weekend warriors are quite a bit different than a focused year on doing only racing
