Aluminum Tilt Trailer Advice - Aluma vs Featherlight vs ATC vs.......
I am in the market for an open tilt trailer. Looking at Aluma 8218T and Featherlight 3110 and ATC tilt. I will be using it for my race cars which are low to begin with and have a large splitters to boot. My back is bad, and I am not dealing with ramps ever again. If you have experience loading low clearance cars onto any of these please let me know. Any other insight and pricing would be helpful.
Thanks

When I bought my open Aluma I also looked at the tilt trailer version, however the approach angle was too steep for my front splitter. I ended up going with a standard trailer plus RaceRamps instead, especially since I needed a tire rack.

Look at the deck height when you start doing the math on ramps and approach angles. Captain Obvious says lower is better... That was a key factor when i bought my Featherlight.

You might also want to look at rollback type ones. The loading angle on those is usually lower than the tilts.

Importing would be a big added expense, but UK/Europe has very creative low deck / tilting car trailers.
I chatted with a few vendors at Frankfurt Auto Show and importing is possible, but may require some assembly and replacement tires will be a hassle (sourced from Europe).
Race Shuttle 3
And rating for towing speed may be a factor.

My current trailer is an old Trailex tiltbed, explicitly built for a DSR... still rocks after some 20 years of abuse... excellent customer service from them a few years back when we had to replace a couple of the main spars due to cracking (from overloading)... They're in OH, could consider adding them to your list...

I was also in the market for a open trailer, I looked at the Aluma and Featherlight mostly. Last week I went ahead and bought the Aluma, mainly bc of the interior width. I have a Radical RXC and its 77" wide, the Featherlight is 79" wide and the Aluma is 82"...The Aluma was also a little cheaper I'm having a custom tire rack / lock box built upfront,...I'm still looking for a fabricator to do this. If you have a low car your going to have to do some race raps, most these trailers only come with 6-7 ramps which are too steep for any low car. I haven't ordered mine yet but I think Im going to go with the RR-TR-10-2 http://www.raceramps.com/trailer-ram...xtensions.aspx They are a 2 piece ramp but if you want to get a LOW car up on a trailer without scraping every time this seems to be the best way to go.

Made in China?
As my trailer uses shorter tires - I wanna say 12" - I'm using trailer-specific sizes... and I've found it's tough to get the Chinese junk to last... try to order Carlisle, made in the US, when I can plan ahead...
