He was the reason I started racing - We met each other at DE at Mosport and he was annoyed I had passed him in my 6GT3 and he was in his street Boxster. He told me he was buying a SPB and I should join him. We went to Sebring together 4 years ago and it was his first club race and I did DE in my GT3. I got annoyed when he insisted my lap times where the result of the car and not my driving, which I later I realized was a ploy to lure me in. I told him when I got home from Sebring, I was going to buy a SPB and come kick his a$$. Our first race together was at WGI and it was also my first club race. He unfortunately crashed in the middle of race one. This was actually a life changing moment for him, because this was what lead him to find his cancer. I will never forget when he called me two weeks after the race and told me.
A month later when he had moved back to CA to be closer to family, I went to see him and stayed with him for 3 days. He was very down and felt like he was going to die within 3 months. We had some terrible conversations over those three days but in the end I had gotten him to see that life was still worth living. I drove him to a Porsche dealership on the last night and he picked himself up a new 991 S. His smile was as big as ever and we went to dinner with his family that night for his wife's birthday and everyone had a great night. I left the next day and he had a renewed interest in life. It was the very least I could do for him. We saw each other many times over the next 3 years as our track lives crossed. He was now living life on his terms and I always respected him for that.
We always shared a healthy conversation on racing and driving in general, often talking for hours on the phone about a race or a car.
Race on good buddy. You will forever inspire me to push.......
