I think I like it, to cinch the lap belt tight. Then I think it folds down out of the way. I can never get mine tight enough (let the comments fly!)

Still not anchored well enough in your seat, even with the ratchet?
From the centerlock discussions, add this:
Torque Multiplier.
You can easily tighten that belt to 2000 Ft/lbs!

These are expensive, and you have to have them rewebbed (for free) after two years, but they have the absolute best lap adjusters I've ever used.

Ah, this is one area in which aviation has not had any crossover, unlike fasteners and plumbing and of course aerodynamic aids. Aerobatic aircraft have things like this, and I have often thought about trying to use this in a car, but find the confines of the seat make it impractical (you don't pull lateral Gs in and aircraft to speak of, so sit in/ON a relatively less confining seat).

NO, I removed the sliders to slam down to the floor. I could put them back as I've modified the cage so I have more headroom anyway, maybe that's the solution?
Besides, I don't think I'd have room between the seat and the tunnel for the gadget in the OP.

As I need belts I will most likely get the Schroth Enduro belt but in the past I just left my lap belts socked down and released the slider to move back and loosen them. Click in, slide forward to lock and your done.

the sliders definitely help. i can't get them as tight as someone pulling from outside the car as I would like. i get in with seat all the way back, belts are pre-set as tight as i can have them and still get them on. once on, put on steering wheel, grab it, and slam forward as hard as i can LOL. they're pretty tight now!

You're tall enough that it's probably not a problem but with a halo seat I would have a hard time getting out without sliders. I love the little handles on the Schroth harnesses that I currently have. They are the easiest to pull up that I've had.
