Default Pobst named as new addition to the SCCA Hall of Fame

I sure I share the same sentiment as many of you do concerning Randy Pobst. A super talent and really nice guy. Worked his way up through the ranks. This will be a well-deserved honor for him. He's one of the greats in my book.

Here is the full link and I pasted the parts about Randy as well.

http://www.scca.com/articles/1999174...a-hall-of-fame

TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 17, 2015) – Five individuals who made indelible marks on the Sports Car Club of America and the world of motorsports were announced as the Club’s newest Hall of Fame class today, adding their names to a list of eternal superstars. Hubert Brundage, Bob Henderson, Roger Penske, Randy Pobst and Alec Ulmann comprise the latest class to join the elite ranks.

Pobst is often revered as the ultimate example of what is possible within SCCA. Starting as an autocrosser during his college days, Pobst honed his skills and took home six Tire Rack Solo National Championship titles during the 1980s. Pobst moved to SCCA Club Racing capturing two SCCA Runoffs titles and finishing second three more times. After moving to the professional ranks, Pobst has scored four SCCA Pro Racing-sanctioned Pirelli World Challenge championships and won more than 90 pro races.

While Pobst is still an active driver, he has spent the last handful of years developing into a respected automotive journalist. SportsCar magazine and Autoweek are two examples of the publications for which Pobst works. His behind-the-wheel feel, and ability to communicate those sensations, speak to both the auto enthusiast and novice.

Awesome guy, well deserved! Met him at a Laps event at the Joliet Autobahn and we took some laps with me and them him driving. Offered great advice. What a ride though!

Still shows up to local Autox and always willing to pass on his knowledge. I am trying to talk him into going to Solo Nationals this year. I am sure we could find him a competitive ride.

Congrats to Randy! I hired him to coach me about 10 years ago in Portland. He threw my car off into the grass turn 1 lap 1 yelling, "No ABS??!!" Hah! Great guy to work with.

I met him several years ago. Just took a chance on him co-driving an enduro at Road Atlanta with the Spec Pinata and he said yes. Randy is a hoot...he said, "heck yeah!..I haven't been in a car in 3 weeks!..let's drive!".

It's just the kind of guy he is..down-to-earth and loves to race.
