Doesn't sound like he will listen to anyone so he will, in the end, get exactly what he deserves...

I know that having a bastard race car that does not conform to a set of rules will be extremely hard to sell when he gets tired of it.(OTOH, I'm laying 50/50 odds that it will end up with bodywork by armco so selling the remains may not be an issue)(Not trying to be a jerk, I like the client but he likes to push the limits)

I can't say the budget is unlimited but he has the money where if there is something he wants to do with the car, he'll spend the money. Having said that, he is trying to keep the costs down as much as he can(short of buying a race ready car which would be the cheapest option).

Don't worry about NASA rules as they have virtually no impact on a Cayman build. The Cayman is a great car and lots of "known" things to do. Other than a 3.8 what else are you planning?

He wants the best suspension and brakes he can get. Full cage.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Why again goes he not buy a GT4? Sounds like he is trying to replicate one and you simply cant for what it costs.. Toss a race seat and cage in, go.
